Firefighters responded to the fire at 10 Harrison Street at 11:40 pm. The firefighters encountered heavy fire from the first floor bedroom extending into the kitchen of the dwelling. Flames also extended out of the windows and ignited a fire at the house next door.

According to Poughkeepsie Fire Chief Mark Johnson, between the fire, smoke and water, the house where the fire started sustained substantial damage.  Chief Johnson also said that the house at number 8 Harrison had to be closed down also due to smoke and water damage.
