Department of Health officials are warning some Hudson Valley residents to boil water for two minutes before using it for drinking or cooking, or switch to bottled water.

City of Newburgh crews are working on a water main break that the Times Herald Record reports is located at Third Street and Richman Avenue. Because of the work being done, Orange County is warning all residents in the city of Newburgh to boil their water.

The main broke today and city employees were unable to completely close the valve on Third Street near West Street. A replacement valve is being transported from New Jersey and crews are expected to work into the night to get it fixed.

City workers have been handing out notices to affected residences, but don't rule out the possibility of others needing to take precaution. Those who are concerned whether they are affected or not should call the Newburgh Water Department at 565-3356.
