Chipotle has fast become a favorite spot for lovers of delicious Mexican food and also lovers of...firearms? Several open-carry gun activists brought their guns to a Chipotle restaurant in the Dallas area over the weekend, for a demonstration (See a tweet of one of the gun pics from 7NEWS Denver Channel HERE). This spurred a petition from Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, an organization that asks companies to ban firearms in their locations, to demand that Chipotle take action..

Chipotle complied, and has now told the gun rights activists not to bring their weapons to their restaurants anymore. They had previously complied local laws regarding open and concealed firearms.

The Denver based Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc released this statement on Monday...

The display of firearms in our restaurants has now created an environment that is potentially intimidating or uncomfortable for many of our customers.

...there are strong arguments on both sides of this issue." It said it hoped that customers who oppose carrying guns in public agree that "it is the role of elected officials and the legislative process to set policy in this area."

Many states allow people to carry licensed guns in some way, but some businesses exercise their right to ban firearms.
