An outraged parent couldn't believe it when his 5-year-old son came home from school with a bill charging for $25 for missing a friend's birthday party.

BBC News reports that Alex Nash from the UK was invited to a party at a local ski slope right before Christmas. After accepting the invitation, Alex's parents realized that it was on the same day that he was to spend time with his grandparents for the holidays.

The parents claim they had no way to contact the birthday boy's parents and were unable to tell them that their son would not attend the party.  After break, Alex came home with a $25 bill from the mother who was hosting the party.

The mother of the birthday boy claims that she could not get a refund on Alex's no-show and that there is no other way for her to re-coup her money. She claims that her contact information was on the invitation and that Alex's parents should have known better than to just not show up at the party.

We want to know what you think. Of course, there are some unwritten rules about children's birthday parties. You never accept an invitation and then decide not to show up. But is sending a bill the right move? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or on our Facebook page.
