Why is Central Hudson handing out dozens of donuts to their customers?

In an attempt to get the word out about the energy company's new monthly billing policy, Central Hudson handed out boxes of donuts at the Wappingers Falls Dunkin' Donuts. It's all part of their "Easier by the Dozen" campaign that's aimed at promoting the new payment procedure.

Customers should start seeing monthly bills starting in July. According to Central Hudson, meters will still only be read every other month. Estimated bills will be sent on the months in between.

Most other utilities and businesses charge on a monthly basis, and Central Hudson claims that the move will actually make it easier for customers to budget their expenses. However, those who don't like having to mail out checks every month should note that unlike most other monthly-billing businesses, Central Hudson does not accept automatic credit card payments. They do, however, have an e-billing option that links your checking account for automatic deductions. Therefore, customers who feel uneasy about linking up their bank accounts will still have to mail out a monthly check.

There is more information about the new monthly billing procedure available at Central Hudson's website.

We want to know what you think about the new monthly billing policy. Is this a welcome change? More of an inconvenience? Or are you unaffected either way?  And would a free dozen donuts change your mind? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
