Cell Phone Service is Coming to the Moon?

Spotty cell phone service has long been issue for many, especially on vacation. But now it looks like Earth's closest neighbor is getting 4G cell phone service.

Planning a trip to the Moon? You may ask - why are we setting up service when you can't get a clear signal in parts of your own town?

The NY Post says it all has to do with the first privately funded trip to the Moon. It's a big joint effort between Vodafone, Nokia, and Audi, and PTScientists out of Berlin. Space X will launch their Falcon 9 mission to the Moon in 2019 from Cape Canaveral.

AA.com says the network will enable communications between lunar rovers on future Moon missions. This will obviously take much quicker than relying on a signal from Earth.
