A 60-year-old Long Island man who visiting relatives in Highland is lucky to be alive. The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that Bruce Hagaen was at his daughter's house when an argument ensued, causing Haegan to storm out in to the frigid cold. He had reportedly been drinking, and thus failed to dress properly when he left. Three hours later, he was no where to be found. With the wind chill dipping down in to the 10s, his daughter became worried and called Ulster County 911

While Ulster County 911 was able to contact Hagaen on his cellphone, they couldn't find his exact location. Hagaen's cell phone would still prove to be the lifesaver though, as the light from his phone helped police spot the man slumped against tree, thigh high in the snow.Troopers both Highland and Gardiner, as well as officers from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office and Town of Lloyd Police Department, helped with the search.

Hagaen was brought to MidHudson Regional Hospital Of Westchester Medical Center in Poughkeepsie for treatment, Lloyd police said. The extent of his frostbite is still being determined.
