This Monday, July 4, we celebrate the birthday of our country, but that is not the only birthday they will be celebrating in Newburgh on Monday.  It is also the birthday of Newburgh's Washington's Headquarters Historic Site.  A double celebration of history, and a learning experience for the whole family.

The Newburgh farmhouse where George Washington stayed during the Revolutionary War was opened to the public on July 4, 1850.  To celebrate their 166th birthday, Washington's Headquarters will hold a special event focusing on the early years as an historic site.  There will be special talks and tours, and all visitors also get a souvenir to take home.

The special tours will be at noon and 3pm on Monday, July 4.  The event is only $5 per person.  Space is limited, so reserve your spot by calling the site at 562-1195.  The site, including the museum and standard tour, is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on July 4. Standard admission will be free that day.
