March 14 is Pi Day. And while the day may be named because of the mathematical number of Pi, we see no problem celebrating with pastries.

If you're looking for a great slice of pie to celebrate along with us, here are five of the best pies available in the Hudson Valley.

Middletown:
Daddy's Donuts and Bake Shop just off of 211 on Fairlawn Avenue has been getting rave reviews for not just their gourmet donuts, but their fruit pies. A Yelp reviewer couldn't stop talking about their strawberry rhubarb pie. They also occasionally have fresh baked cream pies available as well.

Hyde Park:
It doesn't get much better than the Apple Pie Bakery at the Culinary Institute of America. The namesake dessert is worthy of the high praise it receives from pretty much anyone who's tried it.

Poughkeepsie:
Barton Orchards may not be open year round, but their bake shop on Noxon Road in Poughkeepsie is. Their "farm fresh" pies are almost as popular as their cider donuts. And if you don't see a pie you want, the bakery is happy to make one to order.

Of course, there are plenty of other great spots to get a slice of pie in the Hudson Valley. We'd love to know your favorite. Let us know in the comments section below or on our Facebook page.
