According to the CDC, 11 New Yorkers have been infected with salmonella from Honey Smacks, the most out of any other state.

The CDC recommends to check your home for the recalled cereal and throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

Even if some of the cereal was eaten and no one got sick, throw the rest of it away or return it for a refund, officials say.

The original recall was for Honey Smack in 15.3-ounces and 23-ounces packages with a "Best If Used By" date of June 14, 2018, through June 14, 2019. The UPC code for the 15.3-ounce packages is 38000 39103 and for the 23-ounce packages is 38000 14810.

Most people infected with salmonella develop symptoms 12-72 hours after being exposed to the bacteria. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps.
