Beer of the Week

This week's beer comes from our friends at Crossroads Brewery in Athens, NY. Brady's Bay Cream Ale is a pleasantly balanced and refreshing cream ale. German Pilsner Malt creates a beautiful, golden hued ale while small amounts of German Caramel Pils and Honey Malt balance the dry character of the beer with just a touch of sweetness and a mild bready malt character...

This week's beer is Yonkers Brewing Company's Honey Blonde. Made with real Hudson Valley honey, this beer is a great way to begin to summon the flavors of Spring.  Malty, with just a touch of bitterness from the hops, the addition of honey rounds out the flavor with just the right touch of sweetness...

This week's beer comes to us again from Lazy Magnolia Brewery in Mississippi.  Usually I choose a beer that I'm familiar with, but our last offering from LMB was so good, I couldn't pass up the opportunity for us to taste this one together...

This week's beer is a style that I can safely say we haven't done yet: Braggot. Cisco's Winter Shredder is a unique cold month seasonal from the island of Nantucket. "Winter Ale" is not technically a style of beer. When you see a beer that's called a "Winter" that just means it's offered for sale during the Winter months...

This week's beer is one that's near and dear to my heart... quite frankly because I'm drinking it as I'm typing this right now. Captain Lawrence Freshchester Pale Ale is one of my favorite Pale Ales and right now, as usual, it's occupying tap #2 on my home kegerator system...

February 3rd, time for a new Beer of the Week! Here's something you don't see every day: a Black Pale Ale. Bronx Brewery created Bronx Black PA as a Winter seasonal, so I figured we better make it this week's selection before Spring comes and it disappears...

My Beer of the Week for January 27th is a local favorite from Keegan Ales in Kingston. Mother's Milk is classified as a milk stout. While some stouts can be very strong and rich, a milk stout is much sweeter and lighter in taste. You can thank the lactose that's used in the brewing process for that creamy body...

My selection for the week of January 20th comes courtesy of Dogfish Head's mad genius, Sam Calagione.  Described as a "hybrid beer", Indian Brown Ale is the combination of a Brown Ale, a Scotch Ale and an IPA.  It's got the dark coloring of a Brown Ale, the caramel flavor of a Scotch Ale and the same hops profile as their 60 and 90 Minute IPAs...

Each week I get the opportunity to choose my "Beer Of The Week".  It's a tough job to select and sample the greatest beers in the world, but someone has to do it... This week we head on down to New Orleans for a sip of Abita Turbodog...
