New York City's Carnegie Deli is closing its doors at the end of the year.

The deli that opened in 1937 and is known for their massive pastrami sandwiches will close their doors on December 31st. Owner Marian Harper broke the news to her employees on Friday. Employees will keep their jobs through the holiday season.

Harper's father bought the deli from the original owners in 1976. The deli is a popular tourist destination and is well known for it's pop culture cameos. Carnegie will still have location in Las Vegas, Bethleham PA, Madison Square Garden, and at the U.S. Open tennis tournament in Queens.

Harper wants to focus on licensing the brand and selling products for wholesale distribution.

So, if you've been craving a giant pastrami sandwich from the original Carnegie Deli in NYC, now would be the time to go!
