Bus Monitor Arrested for Allegedly Slapping Autistic Children

Hudson Valley News Network reports the arrest of a 73-year-old Pine Bush resident for allegedly slapping two autistic boys while they were on a school bus.

According to New York State Police, Shirley Ellison was arrested after an investigation revealed she struck the two autistic boys aged 8 and 13 while on a bus trip from Pine Bush to the The Center for Spectrum Services in Kingston. Police say Ellison who was supervising the children on the trip as a bus monitor.

She been charged with two counts each of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person and harassment.
