I wish I could say my friend Mr. Flashy was letting me know the bridge by my house was re-opening but I guess I will have to settle for another Dutchess County bridge re-opening.

Residents in Red Hook are rejoicing (or so I hear) after Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro shared the good news on social media yesterday. That's right, you heard it correctly. After a lengthy closure the bridge on Linden Avenue in the Village of Red Hook will re-open today, July 22nd.

The bridge was shut down a year ago after an inspection revealed a sever deterioration which compromised it's integrity and safety. Work began this spring to replace the bridge and it was originally estimated the project would take much longer with the bridge not re-opening until Fall.

Thankfully the project moved along quickly and fished on budget and ahead of schedule according to the County Executive. Now let's just keep our fingers crossed the same will be said for the bridge closure on Route 199 and 308. The Trooper says I can't use my short cut anymore :(
