A St. Louis County Grand Jury has decided to not bring any charges against Darren Wilson, a white police officer who fatally shot Michael Brown, an African-American unarmed teenager in August.

The grand jury decided that no probable cause existed to files charges against Officer Wilson. The deliberated for more than two-days before reaching that decision.

Brown's family issued a statement:

“We are profoundly disappointed that the killer of our child will not face the consequence of his actions”. They added, “While we understand that many others share our pain, we ask that you channel your frustration in ways that will make a positive change. We need to work together to fix the system that allowed this to happen.”

Over the course of 25 days, the jury heard over 70 hours of testimony from 60 witnesses, which included medical examiners. They considered 5 different charges ranging from first degree murder to involuntary manslaughter.

This killing set off a civil uproar, fueled by protesters who say there has been a pattern of police brutality against young black men.
