Body Found in Poughkeepsie Park

Police say they found a dead body in a Poughkeepsie park on Tuesday morning.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that the body was discovered in Sculpture Park at 178 Main Street. Detective Matt Clark confirmed to the paper that it was a body but did not go as far as saying it was a homicide.

A wooded area near the edge of the park has been taped off while the investigation takes place, but right now it looks like the rest of the park and roads surrounding the park are still open.

This has been an especially violent summer in the City of Poughkeepsie. The rise in shootings and other violent acts has residents concerned and politicians working on ways to make the city a safer place.
