World-famous gourmet ice cream is coming to the Hudson Valley, thanks to the founders of Big Gay Ice Cream.

Bryan and Doug will be celebrating their new book with an ice cream social on Saturday, August 8.

Bryan Petroff and Douglas Quint started their humble ice cream truck in Union Square a few summers ago. Since then, they've become a global sensation. Through the use of Twitter they've amassed a rabid fan base that track the truck's whereabouts in New York and pounce when it comes nearby.

Bryan and Doug's success is most likely due to the fact that they make amazing ice cream.  With flavors like American Globs (Vanilla with pretzels, sea salt and chocolate dip), Mermaid (Vanilla with key lime curd, graham crackers and whipped cream) and Gobbler (Pumpkin butter, maple syrup, pie pieces and whipped cream) it's no wonder they've become such a hit.

All of this success has led the Big Gay Ice Cream duo to write a book.  The Big Gay Ice Cream book is part cook book, part ice cream education and, of course, has all of the irreverent fun you'd expect from Bryan and Doug. Not only will you learn new ways to enjoy ice cream, but you'll also find out about the duo's incredible journey.

Hudson Valley Almanac Weekly reports that Bryan and Doug will be celebrating their new book with an ice cream social on Saturday, August 8, at Bluecashew Kitchen Pharmacy in Rhinebeck. You can stop by between 2 to 5 pm for some ice cream and a chance to meet Bryan and Doug, who will be on site, signing copies of their books and chatting up Hudson Valley ice cream fans.

Oh, and if you go, see if you can convince them to open up a store in our area so we don't have to go all the way to New York for some Bea Arthur ice cream. Thanks.
