Viewers of ABC, NBC, and CBS will not be seeing tonight's speech by President Obama on immigration. If you want to see the White House speech, scheduled for 8:00 pm, then you'll have to watch it on Univision, PBS, or on the cable news channels. The Obama adminstration sent out feelers earlier this week and felt the networks would be reluctant to air the speech so they did not formaly ask the networks to do so.

Thursdays are usually a big night for programming and advertisers, so that could be one factor in the networks not airing the President's address. Other network executives were reported to have said privately that they perceived President Obama's speech on the issue to be too political in nature (which could be very subjective).

From CBS

President Obama will unveil his long-awaited plans for unilateral action on immigration Thursday evening and then travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, to promote his plan, according to a video released by the White House Wednesday.
