Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois has announced the passing of K-9 Scout, a nationally recognized K-9 handled and trained by Orange County Sheriff Sergeant Dave Campbell.

K-9 Scout was a German Sheperd born on August 8, 2008 and was selected for a career in law enforcement at the age of eight weeks.  When he was just eighteen months old K-9 Scout placed Fourth at the National Explosives Detector Trials in Minnesota with Sergeant Campbell.

According to DuBois, K-9 Scout performed hundreds of searches for suspicious packages, tracked multiple suspects that fled crime scenes and befriended thousands of Orange County children throughout his ten-year career. "Our hearts go out to Sergeant Campbell, his family as well as his extended family at the Orange County Sheriff's Office" said DuBois in his announcement.
