The City of Beacon is not happy with their neighbors across the river and is telling Newburgh that they need to shut up.

The complaints against Newburgh were brought to the forefront by members of the Beacon City Council who are angry over the behavior happening on the waterfront. According to Mid Hudson News, Beacon residents claim that the music and rowdy crowds at the Newburgh waterfront are just too darn loud.

We've decided not to pick sides in this battle, which may actually result in legal action against some Newburgh businesses. But it's easy to see both sides of the argument.

Beacon has become a thriving tourist destination with "city folk" paying insane amounts of money to spend a relaxing weekend in their version of "the country." If they really wanted to hear drunk college girls screaming the lyrics to Love Shack at the top of their lungs they would probably just stay in their East Village apartment.

On the other hand, hard working Hudson Valley residents need a place to unwind. The Newburgh waterfront isn't just a really cool place to hang out, it's also an important piece of the economy for the area. Just because we've got a bunch of lame hipsters that decided they like to visit our area doesn't mean we have to change what we do, does it?

So what's the answer? Well, for now Beacon's Mayor, Randy Casale, is encouraging residents to direct their complaints to police. Authorities, he says, will start to build a legal case by measuring sound levels and taking meter readings.

We hope it doesn't come to an all out war, but if it does who's side are you on? Should Beacon lighten up or does Newburgh need to calm themselves down? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or on our Facebook page.
