You gotta respect these concertgoers in Poughkeepsie for trying to get the party started. But sometimes you have to know when to quit.

The crowd gathered to see Styx at the Mid Hudson Civic Center was pretty much what you would expect. There were lots of classic rock fans in attendance who are passionate about the music, but maybe a bit past their prime when it comes to partying.

Nevertheless, you gotta respect them for trying to recapture some of that stadium rock madness from their youth with one of of everyone's favorite pre-show activities; the beach ball bounce.

Back in the day a beach ball would start in the back of Madison Square Garden and incredibly stay in the air all the way up to the stage as hyped-up concertgoers kept bouncing it forward with youthful enthusiasm. As the ball would jump closer to the stage the crowd would get louder and louder until the noise reached a fevered pitch as it made it's way front and center.

How did the beach ball bounce go at the Mid Hudson Civic Center on Friday night? Well, let's just say it's not 1975 anymore.
