Authorities Need Help Investigating Bomb Threat to Local Department of Mental Health
Police are hoping for help as they look for the person responsible for calling in a bomb threat to a place that aims to keep the Hudson Valley healthy.
The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department is investigating a report of a bomb threat that occurred at the Dutchess County Department of Mental Health on Saturday just before 4 p.m.
It’s believed that man called the agency and said that bomb was placed inside the building.
Responding officers secured the area and communications with the suspect were turned over to a member of the police department’s Crisis Negotiation Team. The building was searched and cleared by members of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team and explosive detection police K-9’s, police say.
It’s not clear at this time who phoned in the bomb threat. The police investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department at 845-485-3666.
City of Poughkeepsie Police Department and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department assisted on the scene.
