An arrest warrant for a Kingston man led to the arrest of two individuals on multiple charges including criminal contempt, obstruction, and resisting arrest.

According to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, deputies went to the Colonial Gardens Apartments in the City of Kingston to execute an arrest warrant on 25-year-old Darren Dermody, of Kingston. Dermody allegedly failed to pay child support.

Upon police arrival, Natalia M. Mazzuca, 23, also from Kingston, allegedly attempted to conceal that Dermody was in the apartment. She then physically attempted to prevent officials from entering the apartment. Police say Mazzuca then physically attempted to prevent Deputies from removing Dermody once he was in custody. Later, Mazzuca struggled with police when she was placed under arrest.

Police say there was an order of protection banning Dermody from being at the Colonial Gardens Apartments. Dermody was arrested on an Ulster County Family Court Warrant for failure to pay child support. He was additionally charged 2nd-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor.

Mazzuca was charged with the misdemeanors of 2nd-degree obstructing governmental administration and two-counts of resisting arrest.

Both were arraigned in the Town of Esopus Justice Court and remanded to Ulster County Jail. Dermody is being held in lieu of $60,000 cash bail and $120,000 bond. Bail for Mazzuca was set at $10,000 cash bail and $20,000 bond.
