The Arlington Fire District responded to the Mountain Brook Apartments complex on Innis Avenue in Poughkeepsie twice on Friday for two separate kitchen fires.

The first fire was reported at 9:09AM when combustible materials kept too close to cooking equipment in the kitchen sparked a blaze. The occupants of the apartment were alerted by smoke detectors and were able to escape before firefighters arrived, but weren't able to get their dog out. Firefighters found the dog uninjured during an interior search.

Two people in the apartment were transported to Vassar Brothers Medical center for treatment for minor injuries. The building below the apartment sustained water damage. Six people were displaced because of the fire.

At 3:26PM on Friday, Arlington Fire District once again responded to the Mountain Brook Apartments for a kitchen fire. This time, the blaze was caused by a grease fire.

Firefighters responded within three minutes to the call and the blaze was contained to the kitchen and extinguished. The occupants were able to return to the apartment.

The Arlington Fire District reminded occupants to practice cooking safety and have properly installed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in their residence.
