The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office says that a 50-year old Poughkeepsie man was arrested early Sunday for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. If convicted, this won't be the suspect's first offense.

Patrick McCarthy already had six drunken driving convictions when he was stopped for failing to dim his high beams on Route 55, according to police. He was charged with felony drunken driving and failing to dim his high beams for oncoming traffic. While only one of his past DWI convictions came in the last 10 years, under New York state law, a drunken driving charge automatically becomes a felony if the arrestee has a DWI conviction in the past decade.

Think it's time to save the number of a cab or safe ride service?
