Ann Mara, often referred to as "The First Lady Lady of Football"  has passed away at the age of 85.

She was such a influential person in Giants history, and beloved among the NFL, and New York sports. Ann's son and Giants President and CEO said:

“I am sad to say that our mother has passed away, she has been the leader of our family in every way, and we will miss her dearly. She loved her family, and all of us were able to spend time with her in these final days. All 11 of her children and our spouses and numerous grandchildren were with her when she passed away.”

Ann slipped in front of her home two weeks ago during an ice storm and had been in been in the hospital since the following day, due to a head injury suffered in the fall.

Ann and her children owed 50 percent of the team since her husband Wellington MAra passed away in 2005. It is a very sad day for New York Sports fans.
