A puppy that was thrown from a car in Albany on Halloween night now has a new home.

According to timesunion.com, two women came to the downtown Albany police station on Halloween night with a pitbull mix that they reported was tossed out of a moving car on Central Ave. Patrolman Jon David-Hill was at the station on desk patrol and attempted to call animal control regarding the puppy that looked to have a severely broken leg. When animal control recommended putting the puppy down, Hill opted to get a second opinion and called Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital. They said the pup would have a better quality of life if the leg was amputated. The leg was amputated and the pup named Jack (as in Jack-o'-lantern, a nod to the night he was found) has been adjusting well to his new home with Hill after a couple of weeks now.

A $4,000 vet bill has been racked up and a gofundme page has been set up for those who would like to donate.
