Airborne Car Leads To Ulster County Woman Trapped in Overturned Vehicle
After driving into a ditch, an Ulster County woman’s car went airborne, traveled nearly 300 feet through a yard and hit many trees before coming to a stop on its roof.
On Wednesday around 2:45 p.m., deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a woman trapped in her car following a one car accident.
According to police, Christina L. Williams, 37, of Saugerties was traveling south on Route 213 in the Town of Esopus when she drifted off the roadway into a ditch and struck a culvert, sending the vehicle airborne.
The vehicle overturned and traveled around 280 feet through a yard, striking several small trees before coming to rest on its roof.
Williams was taken to the Broadway Campus of Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley for injuries to her head and back.
She was later charged with the traffic infractions of speed not reasonable and prudent, failing to maintain lane and the violation of unlawful possession of marijuana.
The investigation is continuing and there may be additional charges, police say. Anyone that witnessed the accident or any events prior should call the Ulster County Sheriff's Office at 845-338-3640.
