If you were waiting for warmer weather after enduring one of the worst winters in recent history, then you might like this forecast. Long range forecast models are calling for warmer than average temperatures in the Northeast, marking a stark difference from 2014's cooler than normal summer weather. Rainfall amounts are expected to remain around average.

According to Accuweather's summer forecast, the eastern US will see more 90-plus degree days this summer. Major cities like New York and Philadelphia, there may be as many as 10 more than last summer. Rain and heavy thunderstorms could effect the central and southern mid-Atlantic for much of the summer, according to the long range forecast.

The north central part of the US is expected to see a hotter and dryer than normal summer, while parts of Texas and the southwest are expected to endure higher than average rainfall amounts. The drought in California will continue to worsen this summer, after the winter brought little snowfall to the west. Accuweather says that without rain in the forecast, there are indications that the fire season could be one of the worst ever.
