Oniontown is an unincorporated town in Dutchess County, N.Y. that has been shrouded in mystery and rumor. People who say that they have visited claim to have encountered all sorts of threats of violence.

I spoke about the little bit of information that I knew about the town, and its residents, years ago. It was really just a telling of all the rumors I had heard over the years. The response from listeners was amazing, to say the least. People called with all sorts of stories and serious warnings to not go there. I even received a phone call from a man claiming to be from Oniontown who was disappointed in the radio station for even entertaining such rumors. He said Oniontown residents were big fans of the radio station, and the general tone of the call told me they felt betrayed by their hometown rock station. He painted the residents to be people who just wanted to be left alone rather than dangerous people living in an isolated land.

I don't know what the truth is, but one National Geographic TV program has set out to find that truth. Apparently, the show American Fringe airs tonight (April 14) in New Zealand, and Oniontown is the subject of the episode. We have done some research, and found that no one here in the states will be able to see it, but there is a trailer for the show. For now, this is as much as I can provide for you, but rest assured I will be following up.
