Decades before we had Iron ManBlack Panther or Guardians of the Galaxy on the big screen, one superhero movie started it all. 1978's Superman: The Movie was the first big-budget adaptation of a superhero comic that took its subject seriously. It became instantly iconic, from Christopher Reeve's still-unmatched portrayal of Superman to the big, memorable score from all-time great composer John Williams.

Now, Hudson Valley residents have a chance to experience the film in a whole new way. To celebrate the movie's 40th anniversary, the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers is screening a rare, extended cut of the movie that runs a whopping 188 minutes. This was originally developed as a two-night event for the movie's television premiere back in the day and adds nearly 40 minutes worth of story.

I love Superman: The Movie, and I've never seen this version, so this is definitely something I'm interested in. The movie is screening on Tuesday, May 1, with showtimes at 7PM and 9PM. Will you be there, or will you be busy moving back to... OTISBURG?!
