Monday marks the first day of summer and it will be a hot one across the Hudson Valley.

Temperatures will reach 90 degrees across the Hudson Valley and New York state with rising humidity levels.

An Air Quality Alert is in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for Dutchess and Ulster Counties Monday.

The hot weather won't last long as night time thunderstorms will bring cooler temperatures and lower humidities to the area by Tuesday. Highs Tuesday should reach the lower 80s with some gusty winds from the north.

Overnight temperatures will drop to the mid to lower 50s Tuesday night into Thursday.

Scattered thunderstorms are possible Thursday and Thursday night.

The end of the week will see a warming trend as highs will creep back into the 80s, and lows approaching 60.
