Bill Vanliet from Kingston may have won the WPDH trip to Iceland, but you can still join the trip too. Here's seven great reasons why you can't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime trip.

The Boris & Robyn Show spoke with Kerstin Nordin from the Icelandic Tourism Board about some of the amazing things Iceland has to offer. You may be surprised by more than a few of these interesting facts.

1: Iceland Isn't a Frozen Tundra
The climate in Iceland is very similar to ours here in the Northeast. In fact, last winter it was much warmer in Iceland than it was in New York. When the WPDH trip happens in March the weather should be in the mid 40's, which is no where near the freezing temperatures of icy Greenland next door.

2: Eating Whale Blubber Isn't Very Common
There's a misconception that Icelandic food consists of smelly fish and whale blubber. In fact, it's quite the opposite. World class chefs call Iceland home, with more 5-star restaurants opening every day. International cuisine is quite common, including many restaurants that feature fine American dining. Reykjavik, which will be our base, is home to many of the world's culinary treasures.

3: It's the Perfect Time to Catch the Northern Lights
In March, visitors to Iceland frequently get to experience the Northern Lights. It's the incredible light show that nature puts on for people who are close enough to the North Pole to witness it. Last year, the lights were visible throughout the month of March. The mayor of Reykjavik even ordered all of the street lights to be turned off at certain times so that everyone within the city could truly enjoy this amazing sight.

4: Everyone Speaks English
WPDH listeners won't have to download the Icelandic Rosetta Stone before taking our trip. Just about everyone speaks English in Iceland. You'll have no problem reading street signs or finding your way around town.

5: The People are Seriously Nice
This may be quite a bit of culture shock for us New Yorkers, but people in Iceland are super-friendly. In fact, the country ranks number one on the Global Peace Index and was voted friendliest nation by the World Economic Forum. Some even call Iceland "Brazil of the North."

6: They Have the World's Best Hot Dogs
Forget Coney Island, Iceland claims to have the world's best hot dogs. A small hot dog stand called Bæjarins beztu pylsur has achieved international acclaim for their incredible  weiners. James Hetfield from Metallica, Charlie Sheen Anthony Bourdain and even Bill Clinton are all fans. Make sure to order one with "eina með öllu," or "the works," which includes ketchup, mustard, onions and their famous remoulade sauce.

7: You Can't Throw a Stone Without Hitting a Natural Wonder
Geysers, thermal springs, water falls, volcanoes... Iceland's got them all. The WPDH Iceland Trip includes excursions to the Golden Circle, Gullfoss Waterfall, the Great Geysir and more.
