Talk about dedication. A 65-year-old New York Yankees fan named Richard J. Albero is walking from Florida all the way to New York. The retired teacher will spend three months walking over 1,200 miles from Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, FL to Yankee Stadium in The Bronx for the Wounded Warrior Project. A former naval officer himself, Albero wanted to help raise money and awarness for the cause after his own nephew Gary, died during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. He says...

I came up with this concept for this walk from my dream of doing something for charity in my post-retirement life, and being an ex-naval officer and my love of the Yankees, I kind of came up, I thought, with a really cool concept with the Wounded Warrior Project.

According to the NY Daily News, those interested can make donations in honor of their favorite Yankees players. Albero continues...

Each mile is named after a Yankee player from 1913 to the present. Each mile, as you get closer to the stadium, is for more famous Yankee players and will require more of a donation amount to reserve that particular mile
