While most Hudson Valley teens graduated back in June, some were celebrating their big day this week.

Five police dogs from around the Hudson Valley walked across the stage at the Orange County Sheriff's Office on Friday, July 7 as they graduated from a 16 week training program. K-9s Lennon (Rockland) Zeke (Town of Woodbury), Argo (Town of Wallkill) Roan (City of Port Jervis) and Melville (Village o Goshen) were trained by Sergeant David Campbell and Sergeant Dustin Palen from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The 16 week program consisted of obedience, tracking, agility, suspect searches, apprehension techniques and handler protection. All five of the K-9 handlers were on site to proudly watch their partners graduate.

Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus stated in a press release, "We are all proud of the wonderful work that the Orange County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit performs on a daily basis. Sergeant Campbell and Sergeant Palen are true professionals and did a superb job preparing the K-9’s and their handlers for patrol operations. We wish them the best of luck and will continue to support law enforcement in Orange County."
