One of the country's most prestigious beer festivals has awarded top honors to four New York State breweries.

It's the most gold medals won by New York since 2002.

Governor Cuomo met with members of the brewing community on Monday to congratulate them on their top honors at the 35th Annual Great American Beer Festival. The event took place in Colorado last month and featured almost 1,800 brewers from across the country, representing every state and Washington D.C.

The Adirondack Pub and Brewery from Lake George was awarded a gold medal in the wood and barrel-aged sour beer category for its "Sour Project Ale." The Belgian-style beer is aged in Pinot Noir barrels.

Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown picked up another win, earning a gold medal in the Belgian-style Witbier category. The "Ommegang Witte" is a traditional Belgian White and is a favorite among Ommegang's loyal fans.

Great South Bay Brewery from Long Island was a popular stop at this years Hudson River Craft Beer Festival. Those who sampled their beers in Beacon are probably not surprised that the brewery also earned gold for their "Jetty Cream," an innovated honey beer.

Finally, the Hudson Valley's own Broken Bow Brewery in Tuckahoe also earned top honors for their "Old Split-Foot." The beer won gold in the Belgian-style Strong Specialty Ale category.

Congratulations to all of the winners, and to New York for producing some of the very best beer in the country.
