Four from the Hudson Valley are accused of making meth in the local area.

On Saturday around 3 a.m., police patrolling the Rail Trail parking lot on Berme Road in the Town of Rochester noticed three people and a vehicle.

Briana Gowen, 38, of Saugerties, was found in possession of a knife and marijuana and was detained, police say.

As the deputy approached the vehicle, he encountered Gary Hoffman, 28, of Kingston who allegedly gave a false identity to conceal the fact he was a parole absconder.

As the deputy was speaking with Hoffman, 33-year-old Emily Martin of Kerhonkson exited the woods from the area of the Rail Trail. During a search of the area, authorities found material consistent with the unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, police say.

Deputies determined a fourth person fled the area on foot upon after seeing police activity. Erik F. Fehring, 31, of Accord was found several hours later hiding in a home on Main Street in Accord after being observed by a concerned citizen, officials say.

Upon discovery of suspected methamphetamine production, deputies and troopers on scene withdrew from the area due to the suspected hazardous materials associated with methamphetamine production.

The New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team (CCSERT) responded to the scene, identified and processed a number of items and materials used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, according to police

Also located were several plastic bottles that contained liquid and other material that appeared to be undergoing a chemical reaction consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine.

All four were charged with unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, unlawful disposal of methamphetamine laboratory material, criminal possession of precursors of methamphetamine, felonies, and criminal possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material, a misdemeanor.

Fehring was found to have several unrelated warrants for his arrest, police say.

Hoffman was additionally charged with the misdemeanor of criminal impersonation.
