For many families and individuals in the Hudson Valley, the announcement that next season's hunting and trapping licenses are now on sale is a red letter day. Hunting is often passed down from generation to generation and we all know, that if you don't have a license, you won't be going hunting this season.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced today that for the 2018-2019 season sporting licenses and Deer Management Permits are now on sale. You can get your license either through a license-issuing agent, by telephone (866-933-2257), or online at DECALS website.

In addition to the above licenses being available, hunters can also ask about the Venison Donation program, to help feed the hungry as well as Habitat and Acess stamps. Plus, until October, the call center's hours are extended, so you can get the help you need and answers to your questions.

When hunting licenses, arms and ammunition, trip-related expenses are purchased every year by New York's nearly 600,000 hunters, an estimated $1.5 billion is added to the state's economy.
