In this situation, it’s hard to tell who acted like adults and who acted like children.

On Sunday, Saugerties Police arrested a 73-year-old man and a 49-year-old man for fighting while watching a youth football game at an elementary school.

Police say their investigation determined that 49-year-old Stephan R. Williams of Accord and 73-year-old William A. Harris of Ellenville engaged in a physical altercation during a children’s football game at the Mount Marion Elementary School.

Both were charged with disorderly conduct. Authorities didn’t say what the fight was about.

An off-duty officer attempted to stop the fight and was hit by Williams, police say. Williams was additionally charged with second-degree harassment.

Both were released on police appearance tickets. They are scheduled to appear in the Town of Saugerties Justice Court on Oct. 12.

This is another in a series of wild or unusual stories from the Saugerties area. Last week, police arrested an alleged drunk man after he got lost in a strangers back yard. Prior to that, 30 were arrested for illegally cooling off, a man pushed an A.C. out of a window and injured a child, Mariah Carey’s sister was arrested for alleged prostitution and a woman was accused ofthrowing dog poop in a man’s face. All these bizarre stories happened in about the last month, in Saugerties.
