Two Newburgh residents were arrested in Beacon. Police allege they found heroin, cocaine, and more.

On Saturday, City of Beacon Police made a routine traffic stop in the area of Route 9D and Barrett Place for traffic violations. Police soon determined that the driver, 46-year-old Stacie M. Towles, of Newburgh had an active warrant out for her arrest in the Town of Marlborough.

An odor of marijuana allegedly coming from the vehicle was smelt by officers. Following a search, Towles was found to be in possession of marijuana, police say.

Authorities then checked the passenger, 41-year-old Dean A. Nelson also from Newburgh. Nelson is accused of being in possession of 20 bags of crack cocaine and 12 bags of heroin.

Nelson was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Towels was charged with a bench warrant from the Town of Marlborough and unlawful possession of marijuana. She was turned over to the Town of Malborough Police Department.

Nelson was arraigned in City of Beacon Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail on $10,000 or $20,000 bond.
