Two people were arrested on felony drug charges following a probation check.

On Friday, members of the Orange County Probation Department in partnership with the City of Port Jervis Police, the Orange County Sheriff's Department and the New York State Police conducted a probation compliance check throughout the City of Port Jervis.

The check was to ensure that sentenced probationers were in compliance with the terms of their probation, police say.

During the check, 29-year-old Heather Aleman of Port Jervis is accused of being in possession of 131 individual packets of heroin, a quantity of individual bags containing crack cocaine and powder cocaine, a quantity of marijuana and $2,549 in US Currency.

Joseph Mann, 27, was stopped by officers on East Main Street in the City of Port Jervis with allegedly 339 packets of heroin and 10 grams of crack cocaine on him.

Aleman was charged with third-degree and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies, criminally using drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

She was arraigned in Port Jervis City Court and remanded to Orange County Jail without bail pending further court appearances.

Mann was charged two-counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies.

Mann was additionally charged with an arrest warrant for a violation of probation. He was sent to Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail pending further court appearance

The arrests were based upon a several month undercover investigation into the sales of heroin and crack cocaine in the City of Port Jervis by the investigating agencies, police say.
