Underage volunteers walked into dozens of Ulster County businesses to buy alcohol, and it resulted in charges being filed against 13 retail employees for selling alcoholic beverages to minors.

The arrests were part of an ongoing program called “Operation Safe Streets.”

As reported by The Daily Freeman, Arrests were made by members of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and Kingston, Saugerties and town of Ulster police.

 

The following were charged in Kingston with sale of alcoholic beverages to a minor, a violation of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law:

• Srinivasa Immadisetty, 22, of Albany Avenue, Kingston, employed at Sunoco, 675 Broadway.

• Karma Tharchung, 44, of O’Neil Street, Kingston, employed at Mobil, Broadway and Henry Street.

• Robert D. Owen Jr., 27, of Brewster Street, Kingston, employed at Sunoco, East Chester and Lincoln streets.

• An unidentified 18-year-old male employed at the Getty station, Washington and Lucas avenues.

The following were charged in the town of Ulster:

• Manjulaben O. Patel, 60, of Lucas Avenue Extension, Hurley, employed at Convenient Mart, Lucas Avenue.

• Abbas M. Chaudhyr, 26, of Windsor Highway, Vails Gate, employed at Dairy Mart, Leggs Mill Road, Lake Katrine.

• Michael D. Bartlett, 21, of Joseph Drive, Saugerties, employed at QuickChek, Ulster Avenue, Lake Katrine.

• Philip D. Anthony, 54, of state Route 28, West Shokan, employed at QuickChek, Washington Avenue.

Charged in Saugerties was:

• Chandra B. KC, 30, of Washington Avenue, Kingston, employed at Beer Universe, Ulster Avenue.

Charged in Ellenville was:

• Polireddy Nakka, 22, of New Paltz, employed at Citgo, 109 S. Main St.

Charged in Marlboro was:

• Syed Asif Raza, age unavailable, of Marlboro, employed at Marlboro Market, 29 Western Ave.

Charged in Stone Ridge was:

• Santy Abbas, 23, of Stone Ridge, employed at Citgo, 3492 U.S. Route 209.

Charged in Highland, was:

• Stacy Phelps, age unavailable, of Highland, employed at Extra Mart at Chapel Hill, 3738 Route 9W
