Police need help after a Sunday morning shooting in Newburgh where at least four people were shot and one person was killed while attending a Valentine's party.

City of Newburgh Police Department, New York State Police Major Crimes Unit and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office are all investigating the shooting that happened early Sunday morning at 253 South William Street in the City of Newburgh.

Four victims sustained gunshot wounds, police say.

One of the gunshot victims, 24-year-old Gevontay Owens-Grant of Newburgh was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the basement of 253 South William Street was  rented out for a Valentine’s party. The building also houses achurch on the top floor that was not connected to the shooting.
