A 23-year-old man was arrested following a shooting near the Newburgh Library.

City of Newburgh Police arrested 23-year-old Calvin Lembhard of Newburgh in connection with a shooting that occurred on Wednesday in the area near 28 Varrick Homes.

Lembhard allegedly fired multiple shot at an occupied vehicle. The car was hit several times. The driver and passengers were not hit. No injuries were reported. Police are not releasing the names of the occupants.

Lembhard was charged with 1st-degree attempted assault, 2nd-degree criminal possession of a weapon, class C felonie, and a violation of parole.

The firearm has not been recovered.

Last week a City of Newburgh teenager was arrested following a shooting and robbery. A 51-year-old Newburgh man was fatally shot 15 days ago.
